It's Mike...After a 30 year career in investment banking as Managing Director I've returned to a passion for building, fixing and painting. Apparently, I can also design a website but please don't hire me for that.
I spent a long time as a fiduciary in my previous career and that notion of ethics and more importantly the value of one's word will always remain important to me. There's a quiet satisfaction in turning problems into possibilities and being reliable is a point of pride. Simply stated, I'm honest about my skill-set and your interests always come first.
Dad's Toolbox is an insured, owner-operated service business and not a licensed contractor. My goal is to provide a stress-free and transparent experience. If that to-do list is on its second page I'm a phone call away.

You've decided to list your home and just finished that daunting walk-through with your realtor and unfortunately a splash of paint isn't going to cut it. The carpet in the basement has to go, the handrails down the stairs need to be re-supported, 20 year-old shelving has to be removed and all the door & cabinet hardware needs some attention. The garage requires an organizational make-over and that shed in the backyard is a week away from toppling over. And you're trying to list in 10 days...
Or, you closed on the property and the place doesn't quite look the way you remembered at the open house.
This is where I thrive - much can be accomplished with a few days of value-focused work.
Front entryways and your exterior door are often overlooked - it's the first impression your home presents to potential buyers.

Similar sized condos or houses can present different requirements or challenges. Walls and baseboard quotes are materially different when you add in doors, closets, trim and ceilings. Specialized paint or numerous colours will also add to the cost. Wall repairs can differ from filling holes to large patches. Ideally, painting a home is easier when there is no furniture to move - moving it to the middle of a small room doesn't necessarily make it easier. Painting against a rug surface or at heights requires more time. Drywall is much easier to paint than concrete or existing oil-based walls. There are a few considerations to think about when deciding to paint your home. I've posted a few examples in the pricing section below to help with that decision.

Service areas can be ambiguous and fraught with exceptions due to traffic, distance, length of job or other factors.
A cursory outline would include Lake Ontario to the south, Oakville to the west, Highway 401 to the north and Scarborough to the East.
That's an approximation which can always be discussed and extended over the phone.

Also, cottage country can be accommodated for multi-day projects.

Transparency is important when it comes to pricing and probably causes the most anxiety amongst clients. I'll provide written estimates and always communicate any additional costs before starting work.

Daily or weekly rates will be negotiated. There will be no mark-ups on the cost of materials.
Painting quotes will always be communicated as one price. They can exclude or include the cost of paint and other materials.
